Iran launches first home-made satellite

Iran has launched its first domestically-built satellite into orbit using a home grown rocket, in a move that is certain to send shock waves through the international community. The launch of the satellite Hope clearly coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and was broadcast live on state television. Hope, which will orbit Earth 15 times every 24 hours, was launched by a new Safir-2 rocket first sent into space last August. The West fears the launch technology could be used to make long-range missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Iran says its nuclear programme is for peaceful energy purposes and that the satellite was designed for research and telecommunications only.

More than 1.000 prisoners escaped during a brazen Taliban bomb and rocket attack on the main prison in southern Afghanistan. At least nine police were killed.


The complex attack late on Friday included a truck bombing at the main gate, a suicide bomber who struck a back wall and rockets fired from inside the prison courtyard, setting off a series of explosions that rattled Kandahar, the country's second biggest city.

A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousef Ahmadi, said 30 insurgents on motorbikes and two suicide bombers attacked Sarposa Prison and freed about 400 Taliban members.

Praise be to Allah, we seek His help and ask for his pardon. we take refuge in Allah from our wrongs and bad deeds. Who ever been guided by Allah will not be misled, and who ever has been misled, he will never be guided. I bear witness that there is no God except Allah-no associates with Him- and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and messenger.

Praise be to Allah, reporting the saying of the prophet Shu'aib: {I desire nothing but reform so far as I am able, and with non but Allah is the direction of my affair to the right and successful path; on him do I rely and to him do I turn} (Hud; 11:88).

The beginnings of Jihad are traced back to the Prophet, Muhammad, and the revealed word of Allah in the Qu’ran. This word of Allah explicitly encourages the use of Jihad against the unbelievers. Sura 25, verse 52 states: “Do not yield to the unbelievers, but fight them vigorously with this.” It was, therefore, the duty of all Muslims to fight against those who did not believe in Allah. The Qu’ran, however, never uses the term Jihad for fighting and combat in the name of Allah, qital is used to mean “fighting.” The struggle for Jihad in the Qu’ran was originally intended for the nearby neighbors of the Muslims, but as time passed and more enemies arose, the Qu’ranic statements supporting Jihad were updated for the new adversaries. The first documentation of the law of Jihad was written by ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Awza’i and Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Shaybani. The document grew out of debates that had surfaced ever since the Prophet’s death.
